Bitcoin and Burger King: Time to Pay Burgers with Crypto

Posted on

Reporting from AltcoinBuzz, based on Cryptobuyer’s reports via Twitter on Twitter, Burger King, a large network of fast food restaurants, now accepts Bitcoin payments in Venezuela. But not only that, this restaurant also gladly sells burgers and fries in return for Tether, Binance Coin, Litecoin, and DASH. Payments will be activated at a single Burger King branch in the Sambil area, Caracas, Venezuela.

The Dash initiative with Cryptobuyer will develop soon. In 2020, 40 locations will also receive payments with crypto coins. Ryan Taylor, CEO of Dash Core Group, stated, “The use of Dash continues to grow at a rapid pace in Venezuela, because it provides an alternative that is a more reliable method of payment and storage of value.” It should be noted that in 2019 DASH plunged into Latin America with the aim of increasing crypto adoption in the region.

Binance’s CEO, Changpeng Zhao, remarked on the coordinated effort through his short tweet, “Let that hit home!” Cryptobuyer, the organization that Dash referenced, has answered to the tweet. It suggests this new activity will expand the appropriation of digital forms of money in Latin America. Venezuela, situated in Latin America is an incredible spot for creating crypto. The nation was harmed by hyperinflation, which made numerous Venezuelans discover diversion in the BTC crypto.

However, it is too early to judge whether the Burger King initiative will be fully successful. However, this is not the first time Burger King has tried to accept crypto money. Previous efforts did not go well. In the Netherlands, for example, the launch of crypto payments was stopped shortly after. Then there was the “Whoppercoin” case in Russia, in 2019, the state prosecutor called representatives of the Burger King company, reminding Burger King management that cryptocurrency is illegal in the country.
